Compulsory Purchase Order

We help farmers who have been issued with compulsory purchase orders.

What are Compulsory Purchase Orders (CPO's)?

CPO's are issued by the county council to purchase land from land owners and farmers. Usually this is for road development and road restructuring.

How do we assist land owners?

We work on their behalf to assist with these Compulsory Purchase Orders.

Road Developments in Donegal

N15 Lifford - Stranorlar - Ballybofey

Description of the Project

The proposed project involves the design and construction of approximately 17km of new National Primary Road from Lifford to Stranorlar. Four major junctions are proposed, one with the proposed new N14 at Lifford, one with the proposed Ballybofey/Stranorlar Bypass at Stranorlar and one each to provide access to the villages of Killygordon and Castlefinn. The scheme has a Type 2 dual carriageway cross section.

N56 Letterkenny Relief Road

Description of the Project

The proposed N56 Letterkenny Relief Road extends from the N13/N14 Dry Arch Roundabout to the recently constructed N56 IDA road. It is approx. 2.4 km long and is proposed to replace approx. 3.2 km of existing national road.

N13 Stranorlar to Derry

Description of the Project

The aim of the project is to improve the existing N13 between Kilross and Derry City, either via an upgrade of the existing road or a new route or a combination of both.Based on preliminary traffic projections it is expected that a Dual Carriageway will be needed to deal with the predicted traffic flows. The existing N13 is approx. 44km long. The new route will be designed to tie in to existing/planned roads infrastructure in Northern Ireland and detailed consultation will be necessary with the Northern Ireland Roads Service throughout the design process.

N56 Coolboy to Kilmacrennan Realignment

Description of the Project

The proposed project involves the improvement of approximately 3.0km of the N56 from the northern end of the Mountaintop to Illistrin project to the speed limits in Kilmacrennan village. The design has sought to retain as much of the existing road as practical and where necessary off-line sections have been developed.

N56 Mountcharles-Killybegs Junction (Five Points)

Description of the Project
The proposed project involves the design and construction of approximately 15.25km of new National Secondary Road from the end of the recently completed Mountcharles Bypass to link in with the R263 Regional Road to Killybegs at the Five Points junction.

N56 Dungloe to Glenties (Kilraine)

Description of the Project
The proposed project involves the design and construction of approximately 27km of new National Secondary Road from Dungloe to the Kilraine junction south of Glenties. The scheme also includes the provision of a cycletrack for its full length and laybys for viewing areas are also included.

N15 Ballybofey Stranorlar Bypass

Description of the Project
The proposed project involves the design and construction of approximately 15km of new National Primary Road to form a southern bypass of Ballybofey and Stranorlar. The project also provides for a new 1.2km long link road to be constructed to connect the new Bypass to Ballybofey and the existing N15.

N15 Blackburn Bridge Realignment

Description of the Project
The proposed project involves the improvement of approximately 4.5km of the N15 from the bottom of McGroary’s Brae to the existing speed limits on the south side of Ballybofey. The project will focus on online widening in the first instance and where necessary short sections of off-line works will be developed.
