Extension to the date for submission of the 2019 Rare Breed declaration form & record sheet

This Circular extends the submission date of the 2019 Rare Breed declaration form & record sheet along with the required documentation from the 31st May 2020 to the 31st July 2020 in light of the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Any farmer that is getting paid in GLAS for keeping rare breeds must ensure that their paperwork for 2019 is submitted before the 31st of July 2020. This is an extension to the original submission date and it won’t be extended again.

If you don’t have your paperwork submitted by this date you will be rejected from this action in GLAS plan and all money that was received by the farmer under this measure will be recouped in full.

This situation can get even worse if this action was the action that was used to gain a farmer entry into the scheme then the farmer will also be rejected out of the GLAS scheme. This will result in a total clawback of all money received in the GLAS scheme.

Minister Creed welcomes GLAS top-up payments (GLAS PLUS)

The Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed T.D, today welcomed the news that his Department has issued GLAS PLUS payments amounting to over €675,000 to 3,200 GLAS farmers.

These payments are made to farmers who, as part of their GLAS contract, have undertaken to deliver additional GLAS actions that have the potential to deliver a higher environmental dividend.

These GLAS PLUS payments come hot on the heels of the 2019 GLAS balance payments which commenced on 16 April, almost a month ahead of schedule. These payments will strengthen the financial standing of Irish farmers already challenged by the COVID-19 crisis. To date over 93% of GLAS farmers have received their 2019 balance payment, amounting to a total value of almost €28m. Since the start of GLAS in 2015 farmers have received payments valued at over €800m under the scheme.
