Reminders of upcoming deadlines

on Tuesday, 11 October 2016. Posted in Blog, Schemes, Tillage, Sheep, Dairy, Beef

SLURRY SPREADING DEADLINE

The deadline for the spreading slurry on land for 2016 is fast approaching and midnight on Friday is the last day. The good weather that we have had the past week has relieved the pressure somewhat and allowed farmers to get on the lands with slurry.

Before this spell of good weather there were a lot of tanks full of slurry and farmers couldn’t get out with it. it doesn’t look like their will be an extension to the deadline at this stage but you never know. If there will be it will be announced on Thursday in the journal.

Carbon Navigator

The deadline for the carbon navigator is the 31st of October and this has to be completed if you want to be in compliance with the BDGP scheme. Contact your agricultural advisor and he or she will fill this out for you. It is paid for by the department but must be completed before this date and there is no sign of an extension to this deadline either.

Farm Safety Course

Have you made an application under the TAMS II scheme. It is a mandatory requirement to complete a farm safety course as part of your application for payment. You will not get paid under this scheme unless you have the course completed. We are currently taking names for a safety course which is run over a half day and will be a cost of 40 euro. For more information contact our office on 0749130772.

Press Release from the Minister of Agriculture.

I am today confirming that I have prioritised the processing of payments under the Basic Payment Scheme, where we will be paying out 70% advance payment on the 17th October.  This early payment in conjunction with the Areas of Natural Constraint Scheme, GLAS and AEOS payments collectively are worth over €1.5 billion annually to farmers” the Minister added.
