The grants available range between €4,000 and €25,000 and can cover up to 75% of the cost of the works. Eligible applicants for the scheme are chosen on a competitive basis and around 50 to 70 projects will be supported each year. The closing date for the receipt of applications is 5pm on Friday 24 November 2017

The Good Agricultural Practice for Protection of Waters Regulations 2014 give legal effect in Ireland to the Nitrates Directive and to our Nitrates Action Programme (NAP) and the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government (DHPLG) is the lead Department in this regard. The Directive requires all member states to define set periods when the land application of fertiliser is not allowed.
Under this option scheme participants must carry out a minimum of five lameness examinations per year, and complete the relevant section for Lameness Control in the Scheme Action Record Book.
